See how Evan loves the Aloe Gold [gel]?

Mid-April day ? ... back to posts
OK, is it school holidays? a computer too slow so driving me mental? or too big a bite taken into the work pie [of paid relm] ? or did I just get distracted?
Could be all or some on any one particular day, but perhaps I need a bit of the Xtras to clarify my mental focus! [always a consideration]
But, no, I wouldn't dip in to a grossly depleted supply of great goods for our handsome young son. Evan really does love these products [and, no, I'm not a distributor or in any way financially benefiting from the promotion of Univera products]. For his holistic joy and nurturing needs, I really do hope that these become available to the Australian market soon. He seems to get a lot out of what we give him. And when we miss, or cut back too much, the symptoms of digestion system issues and reflux appear again.
So back to the "posting" of what's given, how much, and when:
Because we only have three 100mL bottles left of Essentials [Xtras ran out 2 days ago], and one packet of Aloe Gold [gel], I have given Evan a much decreased dose of every item and spread out over greater time, so I'll summarise for the past week [or two?]...
Every 2nd to 3rd day I give Evan 30-40mL of Essentials, mixed with equal part water, through his stomach PEG. This I give early afternoon easy since it's school hols...next week we're back in class so it'll be late arvo].
I give a few small [1-2mL at a time] spoons of Aloe Gold [gel] directly into Evan's mouth, and even got the picture [see photo when I get around to uploading it...] because he seems to love the taste.
Results: he's still happy, but reflux has recently appeared as a symptom again, with overnight vomiting 3 nights ago, and once again last night.
Bugger!
I'm still looking at getting more product. We'll find a way. Just watching our beautiful boy grow a little more joyful each day.
Must get them all [Evan, plus his big bro, Kaden, and little sis, Sienna] out of the shower now.
Movie time.

what Day is it?
OK - wow - long time since "daily" update... about a week.
Mum/[Me]/I became involved with an interesting new business proposal. Won that, so mind is back to balance again. No no one was neglected...just the peripherals, like blog-land.
As a matter of fact, I won't update on the daily Univera experience, because it's all generalised for the last week.
We started running short on supplies about 7 days ago and I cut back, rather than running out completely all of a sudden, on the dose given each day.
On advice after a couple of overnight [small] vomits we started giving Ageless Xtra and Essentials in the afternoon. The 2 vomit episodes were directly related to the nights I gave Evan the Ageless Xtra and Essentials late in the evening, or even combined with overnight feeds.
He enjoys the flavour of the Aloe Gold [gel] mixed with apple sauce and/or yoghurt, so this is easily given to him orally as morning and evening meal. I think I even mixed it once with Evan's mashed spud w/ or w/out gravy.
[Hey, anything's possible: I used to puree pizza when he was 100% orally fed in hopes that something would put weight on his beautiful, but way-too-slim, body.]
Now that we're running out I'm looking at the best way to source more. Russ and I have discussed how this has benefited Evan and we'd like to invest the money and time into continuing with these supplements.
I describe it like this: Evan is like a flower that now has adequate water he is blooming.
We're at the farm this Easter weekend. Plenty of fresh air and fresh eggs from the chooks' bums. Light breeze and 28 degrees C today. Evening should be balmy with 23 - comfortable for an Easter Friday BBQ [yes, we eat meat on this Good Friday].
Happy Easter everyone!

Day 9 - no morning dose, but an afternoon low profile PEG!
Here it is!
I read to Evan from the final "little book" at the end of my book, "the continuing education of oversoul seven" and it spoke to him of magic and that each of us is charmed. Beautiful thoughts to lead into surgery theatre.
Evan is especially happy this afternoon.
I'll slow-feed him now after the fasting since 130am, but plan to give afternoon and evening Univera treatments before bed.
It's so nice not to have a tube to tangle with on picking up and cuddling!

Day 8 - more of the same
Really, nothing new to report today.
Same dosages of all 3 products.
BM in morning only - loose, but not too much.
Swallowed Aloe Gold orally again [maybe lost 1-2 mL with spit out / dribble that followed].
Happy chap.
Tomorrow we have to omit the morning regime because Evan must fast: off to hospital for a PEG change from long tube to tummy PEG...to a short and low-profile 'button' PEG. We're looking forward to it so that Evan doesn't have it in his way or 'tug' reach.

where were we - Day 7?
OK - same dose, morning and night Aloe Gold 12mL.
Given in the a.m. with fruit puree. At night Evan took it pure - and orally: great swallowing!
Afternoon saw the introduction of Essentials half bottle/50mL, along with Ageless Xtra 50mL [should we give this at the same time?] - diluted with water +/- 30-40mL
Still only 'tasting' foods, but swallowing with a little more ease.
BMs both morning and afternoon: kinda clay-like now.
Good / normal 730pm to bed time.
Aaahh. Good for me too [kids in bed that is - time for Russ and I and relaxation].

Day 7 - school observations
same dosages.
Morning: Aloe Gold [gel] 12mL - mixed with +/- 3tbsp fruit puree, fed orally.
BM: keeps on moving in the mornings...loose.
Afternoon: Ageless Xtra 50mL diluted with 30mL water - syringed into PEG.
Evening: Aloe Gold [gel] 12mL fed with mashed spud.
Woops - I was supposed to start the Essentials yesterday and didn't. It will have to start tomorrow/Day 8.
Where are my days going to?
Another woops - maybe not a good idea that I combined the Ageless Xtra with last overnight feed...a very small vomit, but a vomit none-the-less, overnight. And as I said before, it's aspiration pneumonia that is the greatest threat for Evan, which could be caused by overnight vomits.
But on a very good note, I had some valuable feedback from Evan's Education Assistant who had not seen him for a week: Evan's known to be a naturally happy and beautifully natured boy, but the EA said that she was surprised how much more happy within himself Evan seemed - and his strength and willingness to hold his head up more often was improved as well as general alertness.
It could be that he just had a good sleep ? - but that can't be the case considering our 2 out of 3 past nights 10pm sleep time for the kids
Of my own observations: when I picked Evan up from school [Conductive Education] he was still in the pool [swims twice weekly - special needs school has hydrotherapy pool on site], and I watched him happily [always happy in the pool] floating and stretching in the waters - but the surprise was in his "kicking". By kicking I mean that he actually moved both legs, one after the other, in a slow one-and-then-the-other-leg kicking fashion; whereas, he usually has difficulty moving legs at all.
Tomorrow is yet another day... to be reported.
